Leading short-form mobile video platform TikTok is debuting its first-ever gaming competition in the Philippines, which comes with a touch of a familiar reality show, with The Greatest Gamer Philippines.
Akin to the super popular local TV program “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB),” The Greatest Gamer Philippines revolves around 10 carefully selected players who will be housed in a villa for three weeks for a series of competitions that aims to find the best gamer in the roster.
While the overall concept does take play on the tried-and-true formula of the hit program, TGGP is not necessarily one originating in the country—it had a successful initial run back in Indonesia in 2021.
Culminating from that success, TikTok is expanding on its prominence by bringing the same show to the Philippines, as backed by its supporting partners, Smart Omega, Smart, Samsung, Grab, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
As exciting as the scheme is to the participants as it is to the viewers, the event will see the former taking part in live streams of mini-games, weekly tournaments, as well as challenges, both offline and online—all in a bid to learn what it takes to become a professional player.
With the help of Smart, TikTok guarantees smooth and continuous connectivity for everyone involved. This includes the gaming enthusiasts and the gaming community, in addition to the participants themselves. Hand in hand, TikTok and Smart are promising a new era of immersive gaming experience and memorable experiences with The Greatest Gamer Philippines.
The Greatest Gamer Philippines prizes and how to join
The ultimate winner of the competition will receive a grand prize of Php250,000 as well as a contract with Smart Omega, giving him/her a chance to join the esports team’s MLBB roster.
Interested parties may join the event as contestants by sending their audition videos beginning May 24, 2023, until June 14, 2023, via TikTok.
Specifically, they will have to create an audition video that introduces themselves and showcases their excellent MLBB skills.
