A fraction of the Metro Manila Subway Project, a massive project worth multiple billions of pesos, has been granted to a collaboration of Filipino and Japanese firms, consistent with Megawide Construction Corp., Tobishima Corporation, and Tokyu Construction.

The handing of the project, Contract Package 104 (CP104), was officially enacted during the contract signing which was launched in Mandaluyong City and was broadcasted on DOTr’s official Facebook page.

As per the project contract, the combined powers of top Filipino and Japanese firms will work on the building of two underground stations, specifically the Ortigas North and South, as well as the linking tunnels.

Divided into two currencies, JP¥11,227,496,171.00 (~Php4.5 billion, as of writing’s exchange rate) and Php13,261,303,173.01, the overall cost of the undertaking was tallied at Php17.75 billion.

Expectedly massive and a game changer, the said project is thus dubbed “Project of the Century” and will be on equal footing with the rest of the world once finished.
