The Libreng Sakay on the EDSA Carousel bus line will now resume after it was recently halted due to funding issues.

This is after a Php1.285 billion budget has been allocated to the government’s Service Contracting program under the Department of Transportation (DOTr) pursuant to the Republic Act 11936, or the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 General Appropriations Act.

The said Service Contracting program is responsible for the Libreng Sakay project that gives free bus rides to the Filipino people along EDSA.

“We understand the plight of our commuting public. And so President Bongbong Marcos gave us a directive to do our part, and to exert our best to help ease their burden. The Service Contracting Program, which funds Libreng Sakay is a big help,” said Department of Budget and Management (DBM) secretary Amenah Pandaman.

Pandaman also acknowledges the importance of the free ride as it helps the public save money and reallocate it to other important needs like bills, food, tuition fee, and more.
