The Malacañang Palace just announced that the Filipino medalists of the recent Southeast Asian Games held in Hanoi, Vietnam will get double the cash incentives.
One of the biggest beneficiaries will be Carlos Yulo, the country’s gymnast representative to the SEA Games. The athlete won five gold and two silver medals.
Yulo will apparently get Php3,375,000 in cash incentives after President Rodrigo Duterte doubled all the cash bonuses of SEA Games medalists.
In a statement, Chairman William Ramirez o the Philippine Sports Commission said that: “President Duterte was very pleased by the performance of our athletes in the last Vietnam SEA Games and doubling their incentives is his way of recognizing and showing his appreciation for their efforts.”
The athletes made a courtesy call with the Philippine president last Tuesday evening in Malacañang.

With this gesture, the President is again matching the total cash incentive of the medalists, which was at Php34,537,500.
This incentive system is under the Republic Act 10699, which states that gold, silver, and bronze medal winners will receive Php300,000, Php150,000, and Php60,000, respectively.
“Please know that I really recognize all the tedious preparations you have made to perform your best in this regional sports competition. Just like a father to every Filipino, I am very proud of you,” said President Duterte.
