Following a recent cyberattack of PhilHealth which is said to have compromised the data of millions of contributors, the National Privacy Commission (NPC) rolled out a portal that lets you check if your data was compromised.
Dubbed “Na-leak ba ang PhilHealth Data ko?”, the independent initiative helps affected individuals ensure that their identity and privacy are secured.
The NPC’s portal was made as response to the recent data breach, resulting in the leak of PhilHealth members’ sensitive information like identification numbers, names, birthdates, and addresses.
Essentially a cybercrime attack, the data breach took place on September 22, where the agency’s network was infiltrated and had its files encrypted, and subsequently asking for a ransom for the release of the files. The Department of Information and Computer Technology (DICT) claims that around 734GB of data was stolen from the network.

Using the “Na-leak ba ang PhilHealth Data ko?” portal, PhilHealth members could enter their unique PhilHealth ID number, which would return a result indicated by the color red or green.
Getting a green result suggests that the user’s data was free from the breach. Meanwhile, getting a red result implies that the user’s data was compromised, suggesting that the user should exercise safety measures to protect themselves from possible repercussions.
In light of the data breach, PhilHealth members are being asked to keep an eye out on their accounts and be vigilant about any fraudulent activities.
As of October 13, 2023, NPC’s data available in the portal are comprised of individuals who are 60 years old and above, estimated to be 1 million of the 8.5 million senior citizens. It promises to update the database to include information from other affected age groups.
