There are two types of WiFi passwords: first, a basic and easy-to-remember combination, which has the downside of being easy to crack and hack. The second kind is those that are really secure and hard to guess but can be a chore to type and remember.

We suggest that you go with a WiFi password that’s tougher to crack, which usually contains a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters.

And if you’re worried that you might forget the combination or your guest might have a hard time typing it, we’ll show you a tip on how to make things easier. What’s more, this is actually a pretty cool way to connect to your WiFi network.

In this guide, we’ll show you how you can use QR codes to share your WiFi password. There are a couple of ways you can turn your passwords into a QR code if you’re using an iOS device, Android, or any web browser on a laptop or desktop. Let’s begin.

How to turn WiFi password into QR code

As said earlier, you can use any device to generate a QR code for your WiFi password. You can check the different methods below.

via iOS

Step 1: Open the Shortcuts app. It’s preinstalled on your iPhone, but if you removed it, you can redownload it from the App Store.

Step 2: Tap Gallery.

Step 3: Swipe right on the first carousel until you see “Starter Shortcuts” and click on it.

Step 4: Scroll down then tap Make QR code.

Step 5: Tap “Add Shortcut.”

Step 6: Hit “Shortcuts.”

Step 7: Tap the newly added Make QR code.

Step 8: Click “Set up a Wireless Network.”

Step 9: Enter the name of your wireless network. Tap Done.

Step 10: Type the WiFi password.

Step 11: You’re now shown the QR code, which a guest or a friend can scan to connect to your WiFi network. You can also tap the Share button to save it as an image for future use or share it with a different user via iMessage, AirDrop, etc.

via Android

Step 1: Go to Settings and head to the WiFi section.

Step 2: Make sure that you’re already connected to the WiFi you want to share. Then, tap on it.

Step 3: Click QR Code. On some Android interfaces, the QR code might already be displayed in this step.

Step 4: Once the QR code is displayed, you can now share it with a guest or friend. Have them scan the code using their camera app to automatically connect to the WiFi network without typing the password.

via web browser

Step 1: On your laptop or desktop web browser, search for any WiFi QR Code generator. For this tutorial, we used this one:

Step 2: Type your WiFi name, and password, then click “Generate Code.” You can also customize the design of the code in the right corner. Once done, hit download.

You can have the code printed on a piece of paper, so any guest or family member can easily scan the code to connect to your WiFi.

With this, you no longer have to remember and type your WiFi password anymore. That’s our complete guide on how you can convert your WiFi password into a QR code. Any questions? Let us know in the comments section.
