Starlink have brought one of the biggest innovations in the broadband industry. However, it came with one big caveat for most household users: the expensive startup cost. The dish satellite, together with the necessary cable and modem, cost about USD500 (~Php30,000). Now, they have introduced a new, cheaper option aptly called Starlink Mini.
The new Starlink Mini is being sold in the United States for USD599 (~Php35,200). But in markets such as Colombia, Guatemala, Panama, and El Salvador, the new internet device cost only USD200 (~Php11,800).

Meanwhile, the monthly internet subscription will only cost USD35 (~Php2,000) per month.
As per the company’s website, the product was designed for “Personal, Family, or Household use at a fixed, land-based location in select markets.” It added that “it can be used only with the Starlink Mini kit. Users will have an unlimited amount of prioritized data each month” free from any long-term commitment or contract.
Mini dish users can expect download speeds of 50Mbps to 100Mbps. Unsurprisingly, that’s lower than the speed of 150 Mbps to 250Mbps that standard Starlink dish users get. Still, this will give users on a tight budget an option if their location has little to none broadband service.
The Starlink Mini service is yet to be available in the Philippines.
