The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) announced that they officially approved the registration of SpaceX’s Starlink Internet Services Philippines Inc., which would enable the firm to start providing satellite internet services in the country.
Controversial tech billionaire Elon Musk created Starlink to reach remote areas which are usually not covered by traditional broadband technology, with the use of low-earth orbit satellites.
Starlink’s is now registered in PH as a value-added service (VAS) provider, which will let the company access satellite systems and operate broadband facilities needed for providing internet services.
SpaceX’s Starlink is expected to roll out its satellite internet in underserved and remote areas in the Philippines, where access to internet is limited.
