A device that bears semblance to the iPod is recently patented by Apple with the U.S. Patent Office. The piece of gadget is described as having all the capabilities of a smartphone but sans the texting and calling capabilities.
As such, the said device is capable of handling books and videos in addition to the music that the iPod is generally known for. Unlike older iPod models, the trademark also appears to support wireless earbuds with the device similar to iPhones.
As patents are commonplace in the United States, there is concern over whether said copyright will ever see the light of day in the market as most do not. Since Apple officially killed the iPod off back in 2020, we haven’t heard of a new iPod in development.

Although Apple has built for itself the reputation of being an innovator, it seems that some of its brilliant ideas are aimed at stifling competition rather than bringing something new to the market.
While that was trivial in the business, Apple’s top-secret iPod project, a modified version of the 5th generation iPod, capable of covertly recording and storing data, in collusion with a Department of Energy contractor was not—which put the company in great controversy when word over the news came to life in August 2020.
