ASUS’ Republic of Gamers brand has been killing it on the gaming laptop industry lately. First, they came up with a water-cooled notebook. Next was the crazy-thin gaming laptop, and now a portable machine with an ultra-fast 144Hz display. Meet the ASUS ROG Chimera.
The new ASUS ROG Chimera has a gigantic 17.3-inch display with a 1080p resolution and support for NVIDIA’s G-Sync technology. All these helped the Chimera to achieve that 144Hz refresh rate.
The ROG Chimera that’s being shown on IFA 2017 is said to have an Intel Core i7-7820HK processor and the NVIDIA GTX 1080. With such monstrous horsepower and an efficient display to power on, you can expect high frame rates on this one.
And since it’s running on the latest NVIDIA card, you can most probably do VR gaming on this thing. Let’s just hope that someone can actually come up with a portable VR headset.
The ASUS ROG Chimera has Xbox Wireless support as well. This lets you connect your Xbox One via a proprietary wireless connection. ASUS even included a dedicated Xbox button to the keyboard itself for easy access.
