Have you noticed the “expandable up to 2TB” tag that smartphone manufacturers put on their phones? Well, we’re nearing that reality as SandDsk is breaking boundaries with the new SanDisk Ultra 400GB microSD card.
Yes, you read it right. 400-gigs of freaking storage on a teeny-tiny microSD card. That’s almost two times better than the previous record holder, the Samsung 256GB microSD card which was launched just last year.
If the rumors were true, the iPhone 8 might beat everyone to the race with its 512GB variant. But then again, it’s a dedicated memory chip, not a hot-swappable memory card.
The SanDisk Ultra 400GB microSD card has an SDXC UHS-I classification, with transfer speeds of up to 100MB/s. The memory card also has a class A1 rating, which means it can run apps with great reliability.
But since it’s first of its kind, this new SanDisk card will have a painful price tag of USD249.99 (around Php12,800) — that’s almost the price of a mid-range smartphone.
