GPD upgrades its newest gaming machine in the market billed by its fans as the “smallest handheld and portable laptop”. Dubbed as GPD Win Max, the bite-sized PC is powered by Intel’s 10th generation Ice Lake i5-1035G7 processor, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and NVMe 512GB SSD.
With an 8-inch screen display size, GPD Win Max offers a resolution of 1280 x 800 and an aspect ratio of 16:10. It boasts a three-hour heavy use of battery uptime on a 57Wh capacity and a Iris Plus 940 Intel GPU at its core. It also has Wi-Fi 802.11ax and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity.
Specifically dedicated for use of gamers, the GPD Win Max includes an “Xbox 360 controller” out of the box. It has two joysticks as well as a D-Pad, aside from the standard A, B, X, Y buttons. There are also shoulder buttons which include the Start, Select, and Xbox buttons.
To complement GPD Win Max’s gaming hardware, the device includes a bunch of gaming-specific features. Compared to its predecessor, Win Max 2 differs with its keyboard spacing. The former has more space among its keys while the latter is spaced evenly in chiclet-like style. There is just a small gap between the gamepad, keyboard, and the screen area to make it easier to navigate around.
The portable laptop also houses upgraded ports specialized for a small laptop with a dual USB Type-A port, a single port of Thunderbolt 3, a single port of Gen 1 USB 3.1, and a single port of USB Type-C Gen 2.
The pricing and availability of the GPD Win Max are yet to be announced.
