Apple has finally introduced the much-awaited update to its Macbook Pro line-up.

As you probably heard, the Macbook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models have a new design. Well, not completely new, as they look similar to the Macbook’s from 2012-2015. For one, no more TouchBar, as we’re now getting a full-height function key.

Clearly, Apple is admitting that they made a mistake. Aside from removing the TouchBar that most people never used, the “courageous” tech brand now brought back the essential ports that they removed in the Type-C Macbook era.

A full-size HDMI port is back, an SDXC card reader is back, as well as MagSafe, which is now on its third generation. It still has three USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports and a headphone jack.

Possibly the most controversial design change is the inclusion of the infamous notch from the iPhones. On the upside, the surrounding bezels are thinner. Plus, it got another much-awaited upgrade, a 1080p webcam that should offer sharper video calls and low-light performance.

The Macbook Pro 2021 models also have six speakers that offer 80% more bass. It also has Apple’s Spatial Audio technology for a three-dimensional listening experience with the help of Dolby Atmos.

Of course, another big upgrade here is the displays. Other than being larger at 14.2-inches and 16.2-inches, respectively, they now come with ProMotion technology for a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It’s adaptive, too, so it switches between refresh rates depending on the task on hand to save battery.

They are also the first to use mini LED technology for better brightness and contrast control.

Apple has also introduced two new versions of their M1 chipset. We now have the M1 Pro and M1 Max, which will separate their Pro laptops from the regular ones.

The M1 Pro comes with up to 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, up to 32GB unified memory, and 200GBps memory bandwidth. The M1 Max can go up to 32-core GPU, 64GB unified memory, and 400GBps memory.

Using its proprietary chip results in better battery efficiency. As per Apple, the 14-inch model can last for up to 17 hours when watching videos, while the 16-inch model can go up to 21 hours. Depending on what model you’re getting, you can have a 67W, 96W, or 140W USB Type-C power adapter.

Apple also used an advanced thermal system that can move 50% more air.
