Smart Communications’ first ever prepaid LTE service in the country has gone live yesterday, just around a year after they officially unveiled their commercial LTE mobile data service to postpaid subscribers in our country. Check out all the details that you need to know after the jump.
Smart has been generous in providing affordable mobile internet lately as they announced the availability of Opera Unlisurf15 which lets internet junkies to surf all day for as low as Php15 provided that they will only use the Opera Mini app as the browser. Now, they have something for the big boys as well.
For starters, LTE (Long Term Evolution) is the next step ahead of 3G as it enables mobile internet download speeds of up to 100MBps. However, Smart’s LTE service is limited to 42MBps for the meantime. With that kind of speed, Smart said that you’ll be able to “download movies in minutes, full album in seconds, and real-time gaming no lag”.
4G LTE connectivity has been the latest trend in the mobile internet devices as well as the smartphone and tablet scene. With the ridiculous speed, there’s no more reason not to enjoy the world wide web as it’ll not let you wait anymore with those lazy loading times and endless buffering. You’ll enjoy watching YouTube videos or streaming your favorite show without the need to worry about a sluggish connection.

But before jumping to the LTE bandwagon, please note that it will only work on LTE capable devices. Meaning, giving your android phone the Smart SIM won’t give it LTE powers and outrageous internet speed. However, if you want to feel the might of LTE, SMART is also offering a Pocket Wi-Fi device and Plug-it contract free and you can avail them for Php6,995 and Php5,995, respectively. Since that includes a new LTE sim, that means you’ll also get the same 7 days free internet along with the chosen device. And oh, Smart also said that the first batch of LTE sims doesn’t have a voice call feature so you might want to keep your old sim card handy to take care of your voice calls. The sim comes with SMS features though so you can register to their LTE promos.
For as low as Php350, people will now be able to experience 4G LTE by buying an LTE-enabled Smart SIM (Nano and dual-cut sizes) which comes preloaded with 7 days unlimited mobile internet for free. Once the included plan expires, you can avail of the following promos. They are really good enough considering the lowest Smart LTE plan is at 1299 with a bandwidth cap of 5GB.

Im using smart lte jump in. Nag registered ako sa lte 299 (7days). Ok nman sya nung mga first 2 days. Tpos ng download lang ako ng 4g n movie, hinde na ako maka connect sa LTE. 3G n lng binabato sa akin na signal. Any inputs? TIA!

i also experienced this.. sa tingin ko kapag sobra2x ung gamit mo ayun block ung sim card.. ako ksi i think umabot ako ng 30GB na usage in less than 2 days… tapos ayun nawalan ako ng data connection signal tapos di ako makapag inquire ng balance…
same thing sa 2nd and 3rd sim card ko… wala nga akong tigil sa kaka download with torrents… sa lakas ba naman ng speed..

Saken bat naka 4G pero di lumalagpas ng 12kb/s DL speed ko? The other week umaabot ako ng 100kb/s, kay nakaka dl ako ng maayos. Dahil ba sa marami akong na DL??? naka 10GB ata ako in less than 3days.

Dependent din kasi ang speed sa available bandwidth sa area mo. To put it simply, kapag maraming nagiinternet na ang gamit ay Smart sa area mo, marami kayo nagshashare ng signal thus bumabagal ang internet. Marami ang users na nakalogin sa gabi. Sa umaga karamihan nasa school or office na kaya bumabalik sa normal. I hope this gives a little enlightenment.
Mali po yung information mo. Ito po ay dahil sa bandwidth cap or limit sa lte. Ang smart lte kase merong limit sa pagdownload for example “1.5gb” limit. Kapag ang limit ay malalagpasan mo na. Hihina nayan ang internet mo. Tapos bibilis naman after 24 hours.
No, dati Unlimited ang data ko. After a month, tuwing nakaka-download ako ng marami o HD streaming sa YouTube, bumabagal na. Baka nga may limit, pero kapag flexitime ang gamit ko, unlimited and very fast sya. Ngayon ko lang napag-tanto na bay limit pala ang Smart LTE Prepaid.

I use my iPad as a hotspot and use prepaid LTE. Last year mabilis talaga but for the past few months gapang talaga ang torrent. 10 kbps. Tapos I often get error message from google when I do searches at ang error message ay “there has been detected unusual traffic from your computer” e tipong wala nman ako ginagawa pa.
I also experience the same problem na may naka display na LTE signal but the browsers and other apps say that I am not connected to any network. I tried transferring the SIM to other units pero ayaw pa rin.
I tried replacing the SIM, from the white one to the red one but no change.
Any inputs?
Try learning about OpenVPN and how you can use it in your own scenario. Presently I use frootvpn as vpn server para makalusot ang torrent pero medyo pumpalya na rin. Dahil siguro na share ko na dito at dumami na clients from the Philippines :)

Hello guys. Share ko lang na most of the time working sa akin yung text FREE to 9999. Like today, Nakapagdownload na ako ng 2Gigs via torrent since midnight using the slow speed of .75mbps. Around 10am i used the “free” trick and balik ulit sya sa 10mbps.
Ang na observe ko lang is dapat agressive ka na sa download once bumilis na sya ulit. Para bang pag nakapagpahinga sya hirap na sya bumilis ulit.
Another trick you might want to try is going to facebook first. Ang intindi ko mas may priority si Facebook sa network ng Smart. Once nakapag browse na sa facebook, easier na sa other sites.
Accepted na frustrating na ngayon itong Smart LTE compared to last year kaya nagtanong na rin ako sa Globe and Sun. As far as both data cap and reduced speed once we reach the cap, lamang pa rin si Smart.
smart prepaid lte mabagal..nung una mabilis..pero habang tumatagal bumabagal..alam ko lahat ng requirements ng lte na kailangan cover ka ng lte sites,capable yung cp ng 4g..and lte sim..pero ala talaga..mabilis mag unli mabagal serbisyo kung pumapalo ng 15 to 40mbps ngaun wala pang 1mbps kahit saan sppedtest daanin..hindi ba malinaw na kadayaan to??..mga subscriber na mga nag babayad ng mahal sa prepaid lte na bulok? isip-isip din po..
