There’s a new phone being readied for an August release: the new Acer Liquid Jade Plus. It comes with modest hardware packed inside a beautifully curved body. Hopefully that also means a modest price, too, should it ever arrive in the Philippine market.

The Acer Liquid Jade Plus is basically the yet-to-be-released Liquid Jade, which was first announced back in May at Computex 2014 (alongside the Liquid E600 LTE, E700, and Z200 handsets). As a slightly enhanced version, the Jade Plus offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage instead of the original Jade’s 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage.

Besides those two, the specifications of the Liquid Jade and Jade Plus are the identical. Both have Android 4.4 KitKat preinstalled, with an unspecified quad-core MediaTek processor running under the hood. (We’re guessing it’s the MT6582 chip).

Acer Liquid Jade Plus with Liquid Leap wearable

Also slated for an August release is the company’s first ever wearable: the Acer Liquid Leap. Sporting a 1-inch touchscreen, this smartband has a fitness tracker, smartphone-augmenting features such as call and SMS notifications, IPX7 waterproof certification, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and a week-long battery life.

If all goes all well and Acer won’t be delaying their product launches again, note that the August release for these devices is just for Europe. We haven’t a clue if they’re even headed to the Philippines. But when they do release here, expect the local price somewhere around the official prices of 279 euros for the Acer Liquid Jade Plus and 99 euros for the Liquid Leap smartphone.
