The market for entry level devices is becoming increasingly competitive as more phone makers try to churn out more affordable options. The Samsung Galaxy Star 2 Plus is the latest entry into this competition with budget-minded specs and pricing.

The Galaxy Star 2 Plus features a 4.3 inch WVGA screen, 1.2GHz processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB ROM. While it hasn’t been confirmed, that 1.2GHz processor might be a single core chip. As if the specs weren’t meager enough, you’re also getting a 3mp rear-facing shooter with LED flash but no sign of a front camera whatsoever.

Thankfully, the Samsung Galaxy Star 2 Plus comes with a 1,800mAh battery, which is decent for its screen size. It also happens to come with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, which is more than I can say for many phones that have already come out.

The Samsung Galaxy Star 2 Plus has officially launched in India for a price of INR7,335, or roughly Php5k. No official word if we’ll see this hit Philippine shores, but since we are also considered an emerging market, there’s a good chance that we’ll get to see it here.
