Cherry Mobile Cosmos S2 to be officially announced this week

Almost two months after being spotted in a leaked image, the Cherry Mobile Cosmos S2 is finally ready for its official debut.

The Cherry Mobile Cosmos S2 seems to be the company’s answer to international brands lately releasing aggressively priced devices. Claiming to be worth the Php9,999 price, this 5-inch smartphone offers Android Lollipop, AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Both the front and back panels sport a Gorilla Glass 3 for enhanced protection. If that isn’t enough to melt the heart of even the toughest buyer, the Cosmos 2 touts an aluminum build and measures only 6.3mm. It’s sleek!

Although we previously speculated a MediaTek processor would run under the Cherry Mobile Cosmos S2’s hood, it turns out that a Snapdragon 615 powers the device. For having this chipset instead, the Cosmos S2 can utilize the Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0 technology and bring its battery to its full level faster than when using a conventional charger. Also worth noting are the dual BSI cameras and dual 4G LTE.

Once again, the price for this beaut of a smartphone is Php9,999, a price more enticing than what the original Cosmos S initially went for. Cherry Mobile is expected to make the official announcement for the Cosmos S2 this week. Availability may be low, given that only some selected stores will start selling the device.
