The Alpha Prime 4 wasn’t the only smartphone that Cherry Mobile unveiled at the Computex Taipei 2015. The company also took the wraps off the Cherry Mobile Alpha Prime 5. It’s basically the same phone as the former but has a larger display.
One inch diagonally larger than the Alpha Prime 4‘s display, to be exact. And it’s also confirmed that the Cherry Mobile Alpha Prime 5 has a decent 720p resolution. It also has a bigger internal storage, more RAM and better main camera.
Cherry Mobile Alpha Prime 5 Specs
- Windows 10 Mobile
- 5-inch capacitive touchscreen (720×1280 HD), ~294ppi
- 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 (MSM8909) processor

- microSD support
- 8-megapixel main camera, with LED flash
- 2-megapixel front camera
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n

The listed specs above are all that is known about the Cherry Mobile Alpha Prime 5 so far. Despite a low-end chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 has several capabilities. It’s possible that this Windows 10 Mobile-powered smartphone might come packing zero shutter lag, HDR shooting mode, quick charge support for the unspecified battery, and more.
Cherry Mobile has yet to announce the price and availability for the Alpha Prime 5, but it will probably release at the same time as its 4-inch counterpart. It will cost less than $100 but naturally a bit higher than the Prime 4.
Cherry Mobile is all too happy to announce its solid support for Windows 10 Mobile. It makes one wonder if the company’s previous smartphones will be blessed with the upcoming operating system. The specs of the Alpha Luxe and Alpha Style aren’t that different from the Alpha Prime handsets, with the lack of LTE as the only major difference, so here’s hoping that they’re indeed upgradeable.
