What we thought as a potential successor has turned out to be a refresh. Cherry Mobile wishes you happy holidays by introducing an updated Flare X smartphone. It comes with the new MediaTek MT6753, a system on a chip (SoC) released this year.
In comparison, the June version of Flare X comes with the MT6752, an SoC that was released in Q3 2014. But it’s a questionable move for Cherry Mobile, though, given that the MT6753 (eight cores clocked at 1.3GHz with Mali-T720 graphics) seems to be inferior to the MT6752 (eight cores clocked at 1.7GHz with Mali-T760 graphics). Reports are suggesting that problems with supply and demand have caused Cherry Mobile to make the SoC switch.
On the plus side, the updated Flare X comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box; there’s no more need to download an update. These changes aside, there’s nothing else that’s been modified in the Flare X.
