iPhone clones will never die down for as long as the real thing remains popular. There are even clones already in the works that claim to copy Apple’s next smartphone installment, which is expected to be announced later this year. One particular phone that has caught our attention is the GooApple i7.
Even the name is a blatant declaration of mimicry. But whereas other clones merely imitate the physical appearance and fall far short of performance, the GooApple i7 promises to be both powerful and Apple-esque beautiful. Internal specs reportedly include a MediaTek Helio P10, 4GB of RAM and 3100mAh battery with fast charging technology. NFC, audio Hi-Fi and a 16-megapixel main camera are apparently onboard too. There’s also what seems to be a too-good-to-be-true internal storage of up to 256GB. But maybe this clone could pull it off—Asus has done it with its ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition, and the iPhone 7 is rumored to boast such storage capacity as well.
It’s rather early to judge the physical appeal of the GooApple i7, because we haven’t seen the official iPhone 7. In fact, this clone seems to have based its design on a concept render only, not the real deal. On its own, it looks bizarre. Is that a home button integrated directly to the touchscreen?
