Huawei mate 10 Review

Aside from the new accessories and P50 series, Huawei also announced storage upgrades for older devices.

Huawei Mate, Nova, Enjoy, and P series smartphones will be eligible for an internal storage upgrade for a fee of CNY368 (~Php2,900), so they can have enough space for the upcoming HarmonyOS update.

Users with Mate, P, nova, and Enjoy phones will be able to upgrade their internal storage for a small fee of CNY369 (that’s about $57) to have room for the Harmony OS without losing valuable files.

The first in line is the flagship Mate 9 to Mate 30 series and P10 to P30 series. Unfortunately, the Lite versions of the said models aren’t included. The phones will get double their original storage: 64GB to 128GB, 128GB to 256GB, and 256GB to 512GB.

Other midrange phones like the 2017 Nova 2 up to the Nova 7 SE 5G will be eligible later this 2021. Sources say a lot of old Honor flagships in the past will also be included in the program, but there’s no confirmation from Huawei yet.

While the increase in storage is beneficial to those with lots of files, it won’t necessarily translate to better performance. Still, it’s nice of Huawei to give the option for its users. The program will first launch in China, but it might arrive in other regions if it becomes successful.
