Vivo is stepping up their game in the design department.
Smartphones designs became stagnant for the past couple of years. Almost all devices look like each other, without distinguishable physical features to set them apart. All have tall displays and notches, as well as thin bezels on the side.
Vivo decided to be the one to make a breakthrough, with the removal of the notch and traditional fingerprint scanner. The absence of the notch meant that there’s no more space for the front camera and other sensors in front, so the company intelligently made it pop-up from within the phone’s body.

The fingerprint scanner wasn’t completely removed either. Instead of the usual location, it’s now hidden underneath the Vivo NEX‘s display. We have to say that Vivo’s definitely on the roll, as they introduced two impressive innovations in one product.
But it seems like Vivo is not yet satisfied with the current state of the NEX, so they tweaked the design a little bit by introducing a new paint job. Dubbed as the Purple Star Trail, it’s got gradient blue and purple color variations with star trails all throughout the back panel. Colors also appear different depending on the angle and light sources available.
Aside from the new color, it’s still the same Vivo NEX launched a couple of months ago. It’s equipped with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB RAM, and up to 256GB of storage. Price starts at CNY 4,298 or approximately Php34,000 (~USD626).
