The title for the cheapest local octa-core smartphone now goes to the SKK Mobile Kraken. It’s price? Just Php7,999… for now.

Previously teased late in March, the SKK Mobile Kraken is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor clocked at 1.7GHz, Mali-450 MP4 graphics, and 1GB of RAM. Its 5-inch LCD features IPS technology for wide-angle viewing and 480-by-854 (FWVGA) resolution. With 8GB internal storage and up to 32GB external expansion, the SKK Mobile Kraken further sports 8-megapixel rear-facing and 5-megapixel front-facing cameras.

Running 4.2 Jelly Bean, the SKK Mobile Kraken offers dual SIM capability. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS, and Bluetooth. It promises “long life” with its 2000mAh battery.

Interested buyers should grab the SKK Mobile Kraken no later than June 1, as its look likes the Php7,999 tag is only an introductory price for the ongoing SKK store sale at the following venues:
