New data solidifies Transsion’s position as number one in the Philippine market
Transsion — the company behind Infinix, TECNO, and Itel — was earlier hailed by Canalys Research as the number one in the Philippines in terms of sell-in shipments for the third quarter of 2024.
Now, International Data Corporation (IDC) backs Transsion’s standing with its own report. During the same period, IDC said that the holding company had a 37% market share, posing an impressive year-over-year (YoY) growth of 63%.
In fact, Transsion’s figures in the Philippines are the strongest in Southeast Asia. The company’s success is attributed to its continued focus on bang-for-the-buch budget-friendly phones like the Infinix GT 20 Pro.
The second place goes to realme, whose focus on value-oriented phones like the realme C63 earned them a 17% market share despite the more modest 10% YoY growth.
OPPO took the third spot with a 10% market share with a high 33% YoY growth. Meanwhile, Xiaomi is only in the fourth spot despite its diverse smartphone offering. It has a 10% market share, tied with Samsung, which settled at the fifth spot.
We’ll see how the figures change in the next and final quarter of 2024, the most important period due to the upcoming holiday season.
