Facebook has a very nifty way of notifying users whenever they get tagged from an uploaded photo. It could be something personal or as a result of a gathering. For most people, this is a way of complimenting the person about the image or simply as an act of calling the person’s attention.
But, on the other hand, this could also be a means of harassing a person, particularly in cases when there is malicious intent with the post such as in the act of cyber harassment.
Previously, having to get a notification about getting your image posted on Facebook would require you getting tagged. A recent change with Facebook, however, nullifies this necessity by enabling a feature which lets you get notified of any of your facially-recognized images getting posted in it by default.
While there is indeed a noble intention to this feature—that is, to keep you up-to-date with the images of you getting live in a social media platform—there is also the fear that it can also be used at your expense and consequential annoyance. For instance, you can easily get notified about any post containing your image even though it is meant to malign.

Luckily, the developers at Facebook also anticipate the idea that this new feature is not meant for everybody. As such, they placed an option for anyone to toggle it off as they see fit.
Admittedly, the feature has not fully rolled out yet. This means that not everyone may be getting this feature at this point. But should you and find it too intrusive to be anything but bad for yourself, here’s how you can turn off Facebook photos auto-tagging:
Step 1: Go to Settings > Timeline and Tagging.
Step 2: Look for the section which says “Who sees tag suggestions when photos that look like you are uploaded?”
Step 3: From here, simply set it to “No One.”
