Premier video streaming platform TikTok announced that it will be allowing certain content creators to start charging for live stream content.

Far from being new to the platform, other social media spaces such as Facebook and Instagram are already doing the same in a competition for prominent influencers who gather audiences.

In its early phase, TikTok said that the feature will kickstart early this week but via invitation only. However, a wider number of creators will also be entitled to the same in the coming months. The topic of pricing remains a secret at this point.

Under the program, creators will be able to directly engage with their subscribers by entering an exclusive chat mode.

Users who opt to become subscribers get unique perks for their paid subscriptions, which include digital badges and the ability to move the camera around during a live stream, per TikTok creators who received an invitation to the program.
