The highly-anticipated and star-studded Asian Artist Awards 2023 kicked off at the Philippine Arena Bulacan last December 14, 2023. Graced by top K-pop stars and K-drama actors, this long eight-hour awards show presented the best South Korean and Filipino talents.
The Asian Artist Awards 2023 was the first South Korean awards show to happen in the Philippines. The hottest and trendiest celebrities were present at the event. These include Seventeen sub-unit BSS, New Jeans, Stray Kids, Le Sserafim, and actors like Ahn Hyeo Seop, Lee Junho, and Kim Se Jeong among others. Filipino personalities such as Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, SB19, Ben and Ben, and Melai Cantiveros-Francisco were also there.
The event started with a red carpet where more than fifty South Korean and Filipino artists took photos and interacted with the media and fans. The red carpet-show was hosted by Ryan Bang. Bang was praised for his multilingual capabilities for switching languages from Korean to English and Filipino and giving entertaining comments during the whole show.
After the red carpet, the show proceeded to the actual awards show which was hosted by Jang Won Young from Ive, Kang Daniel, and Zerobaseone Sung Han Bin. The Asian Artist Awards was an eight-hour-long event that started at 3 PM and ended at 10 PM. Despite the long show, the Filipino crowd didn’t hesitate to show support and enthusiasm for all the performances.
New Jeans and Seventeen bagged the most awards
Fourth-generation Kpop girlgroup New Jeans bagged multiple major awards this year such as Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for their song “Ditto”. They won a total of six awards. Meanwhile, boy group Seventeen won Album of the Year, and its sub-unit BSS won the Performance of the Year award.
On the other hand, actor Lee Junho won the Actor of the Year award for this popular rom-com series, King the Land. This is his second consecutive year to win the said category.
Meanwhile, Filipino boy group sensation SB19 bagged two awards. These are the Hot Trend Award and Best Artist Award (Singer). The Ppop sensation showcased what Filipino artistry is with their jaw-dropping performance at the start of the show. Moreover, they also shared a collaboration stage with K-pop Group &TEAM and performed their viral hit “Gento”.
Asian Artist Awards 2023 with SMART Communications
