The University of the Philippines Open University is back in 2024 to offer a series of free massive open online courses (MOOCs) throughout the year.

To the uninitiated, the courses are available to anyone, including non-UP students. You are given the flexibility to progress through the course materials at your own pace. A completed course is equivalent to a 16-hour training that the university says can be cited on your resume.

Covering professional development across various disciplines and spanning the entire year, the 2024 MOOCs are part of the university’s commitment to provide open learning and distance education in the country. January is already over, so you can no longer take the foundational courses available for that month. But there’s still plenty of offerings left. A gender sensitivity training is available in February, followed by introductory courses on business analytics, digital office efficiency, and understanding child development in March.

The rest of the year is jam-packed with other courses, with the exception of a month-long break in August. A quick comparison of courses between 2023 and 2024 shows that several of the courses are repeat offerings, so you have a chance to take courses you missed out on last year.

We’ve already compiled a list of common questions online users are likely to ask regarding the UPOU Massive Open Distance e-Learning platform. And while the guide was written with the last year’s set of courses in mind, several sections of the guide are still applicable for 2024. So if you’re wondering how to enroll, what kinds of fees there might be attached to the enrollment, and what you get by completing the courses, check out our guide on the UP Open University Free Online Courses.
