Longstanding file hosting site Zippyshare is finally calling it quits after 17 years of service—and after establishing itself as one of the beloved options among internet users who either have to pass files around or receive them, big or small.
In a blog post, Zippyshare shared what would be one of the saddest news to come in 2023—that is, the pronouncement of its imminent closure and the reason behind the choice.
The announcement started with an instruction asking the readers to back up their “important files,” in support of the post titled “Information about the closure of the project”—the first in many years since the post that preceded that was posted on April 3, 2018.
The brief introduction was then followed by a paragraph that soon laid out the “several reasons” for the forthcoming shutdown.

Zippyshare’s reasons for closing would have been a lengthier reading affair but chose to save the readers the boring stuff by cutting it short.
Ultimately, Zippyshare simply summed everything as simply a case of no longer affording the upkeep of the site.
