Lazada and Alibaba are expanding their partnership by having Taobao’s merchandise available in Southeast Asia.
According to Lazada, they will start offering Alibaba’s Taobao offerings in the company’s Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia counterparts. Both Lazada Singapore and Malaysia have already started selling Taobao products earlier this year. Now, it will also be available for the rest of Southeast Asia.
In the next few weeks, you can start seeing Taobao products pop-up on Lazada’s website. All Taobao products have been curated to fit the needs and wants of the Filipinos. So, you can expect new and interesting things on Lazada thanks to this partnership.
Lazada started its services in 2012 and it currently operates in Asia. And as the e-commerce in the SEA has shown great potential: Alibaba Group has shown huge interest in acquiring Lazada. Last June, Alibaba invested USD1 Billion in Lazada that spiked its stake in the company to 83%.
