Binance, one of the biggest cryptocurrency exchange platforms in the world, announced that they are planning to offer blockchain scholarships in the Philippines.

The crypto exchange company is currently waiting on its license application with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Binance Asia Pacific head Leon Foong said that they will be assessing the applicants’ base level of blockchain knowledge. Passers will “get funded to go to a university of their choice.”

This offering is on top of their current partnership with select schools in Metro Manila to offer blockchain and cryptocurrency classes.

The company said that its goal is to raise awareness and knowledge among Filipino youth to allow them to utilize blockchain and protected them from cybercrime.

Foong added that the country is still a key market not just for Binance, but for blockchain in general. The Binance head attributed this to the Filipinos’ quick adaption to e-wallets, digital assets, and the country’s large population.
