DJI and Insta360 have been outshining GoPro in the past few years. Will the new GoPro Mission 1 series finally put them back in the limelight?
The GoPro Mission 1 series consists of the GoPro Mission 1, Mission 1 Pro, and the Mission 1 Pro ILS. All models come with a 1-inch 50-megapixel sensor — the biggest on any GoPro camera.

They also come with the latest 5nm GP3 processor that unlocks features like 8K@60fps/30fps video recording, 960fps slow-mo at 1080p, 4K@120fps Open Gate, 4K@240fps, and more.
Of course, the new chip has a dedicated NPU for AI tasks that help improve things like video processing and low-light performance. They also work with the new Enduro 2 battery that lasts for 3 hours at 4K@30fps recording.

Now, onto the differences. Mission 1 has a tougher case that’s waterproof up to 20 meters. It also has an OLED display, a new 159-degree lens, and updated buttons.
You also get four microphones with 32-bit float format, HLD HDR, 10-bit color with GP-Log2, Bluetooth 5.3, Timecode sync, and 50-megapixel photos.

The Mission 1 Pro has all those features, but will come with a Grip Edition that comes with a metal case to improve durability and will have mounts for a cold shoe, magnetic latch, and mounting fingers. The Pro models also have up to 8K@60fps, while the non-Pro is capped at 8K@30fps.
It also comes in a Creator Edition with a Mission 1 Series Media Mode for additional ports, a microphone, a Wireless Mic Complete Kit, and a Volta 2 Battery Grip. Meanwhile, the Ultimate Creator Edition will add a GoPro Fluid Pro AI gimbal.

Finally, we have the Mission 1 Pro ILS, which has an interchangeable lens system (hence the name) and supports Micro Four Thirds lenses and adapters.

As said earlier, GoPro also introduced tons of new accessories for the GoPro, including the new Wireless Mic System. Finally, it looks like GoPro is finally serious about taking on the competition.
Pricing and availability for the new GoPro Mission 1 series and accessories will be announced in May.
