Effective October 1 of this year, Philippine passport applicants will no longer have to wait for at least a month to receive their passports as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) have declared that it will now only take six (6) working days before your passport becomes available.
The good news was released through a statement from DFA Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano – stating that applicants at the DFA Consular Offices in Metro Manila who pay the regular fee of Php950.00 can receive their passports in just 12 working days, an improvement to the 15 working days that it usually takes. Meanwhile, applicants who will pay the express fee of Php1,200.00 can receive their passports in just 6 working days, instead of the previous 7 working days.
On the other hand, applicants at the DFA Consular Offices outside Metro Manila can get their passports after 12 working days instead of 20 for regular processing —and 7 working days instead of 10 for express processing.
However, Sec. Cayetano cleared that they are still working on reducing the waiting time for the passports which are filed at Philippine Embassies and Consulates General across the globe.
