Epson, the Japanese electronics company, still tops the ASEAN hardcopy peripheral market (HPM) for the second quarter of 2024 (2Q 2024), according to the latest report released by IDC

The report showed, however, a 6.4% dip in HPM sales year over year (YoY) in 2Q 2024, but they are expected to bounce back in the second half of the year. The Laser A4 and A3 markets also saw a significant decline, with 8.2% and 14.1%, respectively.

This quarterly IDC report includes the latest tracking of global HPM data, including the sales of printers, MFPs, ink cartridges, the digital copier market, and others.

Epson currently maintains a commanding 40% share of the ink tank market but was also affected by the decline in sales, particularly in the lower shipment in strong markets—Indonesia and the Philippines.

In second place is Canon, with 31% of the market, followed by HP with 15% and Brother with 11%. Completing the top 5 is Fujifilm, with a measly 1%.

It also mentioned growth potential for the Philippine market for ink cartridge machines in time for back-to-school and home printing needs, as well as opportunities for first-time users.
