Smartphones with a whopping 108-megapixel primary camera are now on the horizon.

This is after Samsung introduced its new ISOCELL Bright HMX mobile camera sensor a couple of weeks back. It was said to be the offspring of Samsung and Xiaomi working closely together. Which is why it’s no surprise that the first device rumored to have it is the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 4.

However, thanks to the findings from the people at XDA Developers, it’s been revealed that Xiaomi has four different smartphones in their pipeline that will sport this pixel-packed mobile sensor.

The researchers found four phones inside the code of the MIUI gallery app. The said devices were codenamed draco, tucana, umi, and cmi.

It’s said that Xiaomi has added support for viewing 108-megapixel photos in full resolution on their native gallery app. However, the feature is exclusive to these four devices. Hence, hinting that they will sport the new sensor from Samsung.

However, the source didn’t specifically find the Mi Mix 4 in the code list. Either the support for this smartphone is yet to be added, or it’s one of the concealed and codenamed devices.

Still, the rumors can be true considering the sources’ credibility. These are the same people who found out that Xiaomi was working on two pop-up camera phones, which turned out to be the Redmi K20/Mi 9T and its bigger brother, the Redmi K20 Pro/Mi 9T Pro.

Xiaomi is expected to reveal the Mi Mix 4 sometime in October. Giving us a look at what 108-megapixel camera phones has to offer.
