Most smartphone manufacturers just can’t get enough of their in-house mobile interfaces. Vivo, who’s one of those keen of using their own implementation, has officially announced that a FunTouch OS 3.1 update is in the works.

The upcoming FunTouch OS 3.1 will finally be based on Android 7.1 Nougat. It took quite some time, as Vivo is only coming up with this one when the Android O update is already at the horizon.

With the new FunTouch OS 3.1, Vivo is expected to refresh its looks and update its built-in apps and overall user experience to match the standards of Android Nougat.

Disappointingly, the update will be initially made available to the devices that aren’t available in the Philippines. However, we can still expect Vivo to bring the 3.1 update to devices like the Y55s, Y53, and the whole V5 line.

Initial Vivo devices to receive FunTouch 3.1 update:

  • Vivo Xplay 5S
  • Vivo Xplay 5A
  • Vivo x9
  • Vivo X7
  • Vivo x9 Plus
  • Vivo X7 Plus
  • Vivo Xplay 6

The upcoming FunTouch update will arrive on the first set of smartphones next month as a beta release starting this July. Full and stable versions are expected to arrive in August.
