BPI and UnionBank card owners who’ve been enjoying free GCash transfers for years are in for some bad news.
In its help center page, GCash subtly advised its users that, come October 2, 2023, they will start charging users who will be cashing in from their BPI and UnionBank a convenience fee — a service that’s used to be free.
Those who will be transferring funds from their BPI or UnionBank accounts to their GCash e-wallet will now be charged Php5.00.

In the advisory, GCash explained that charging a convenience fee for linked BPI and UnionBank accounts was done “due to increasing costs.”
The said advisory is posted on the GCash Help Center page under “General Cash In Inquiries.”
As a workaround, GCash suggested using InstaPay as a workaround or using your bank’s own website. Cashing in via PayPal is also free.
