Via a joint press statement today, Smart, Sun, and Globe have offered 25 free SMS per day for five days. Those can be used for local text messages across all networks. In addition to that, here is also an allocation for international SMS.
For now, it’s three free international SMS for Smart though most likely it’s the same for Globe and Sun. For now, this offer will be available to both post-paid and pre-paid subscribers in Tacloban City, as well as provinces in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Leyte, northern Cebu and the Samar. That estimates to about 5 millions subscribers. This bundle will be available from November 13 (today) to November 17. No registration is required and the service will be pushed automatically at the start of each day.

This agreement between operators has been done in response to the devastation caused by super typhoon Yolanda. Aside from that, all three are frantically trying to restore their respective services as fast as possible, all the while also trying to assist in emergency relief activities of both government and other humanitarian agencies.
As of yesterday, 82% of Smart’s network in the area has been restored. Other networks seem to be in a similar state. Our hearts go to all the affected, and each one of us can help in our own way. Bangon Pinoy!
