Grab Philippines is pushing for sustainability as it launches the first fully electric taxi fleet in the country called GrabTaxi Electric.

The GrabTaxi Electric is an all-EV fleet launched in partnership with local operator EV Taxi Corp.

Officially recognized by the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB), GrabTaxi Electric will be first offered in Metro Manila hubs, including Pasig, Taguig, Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasay, and Paranaque.

A joint study by Grab and BYD Philippines showed the operational and financial viability of EVs for both operators and drivers. It highlighted how using EVs is not just good for the environment, but is also “a cost-effective and scalable model for urban mobility.”

Grab is also expanding its EV adoption across its GrabCar fleet in Cagayan De Oro and Davao in the coming months.

Grab app users can book a GrabTaxi Electric ride in the Transport tab, next to Grab mobility services. The feature is currently in beta as they generate feedback from both passengers and drivers on the service.
