Honor 8X Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9 update starts rolling out


Aside from providing affordable smartphones, Honor is keen on improving the quality of their handsets by rolling out software updates. A lot of their devices have already received the Android 9 Pie EMUI 9 update, and now, the Honor 8X will also get to have it.

This Honor 8X Android 9 Pie EMUI 9 update brings an faster app launches, improved sound recorder, as well as Huawei Share 3.0, so you can expect a better user experience on this latest update. However, the new EMUI 9 weighs 3.14GB in size. But considering that the Honor 8X 128GB of storage, that shouldn’t be an issue.

While the regions of the update roll-out is still unclear, an 8X user from Macedonia confirmed that they already have the update. With this, we can be hopeful that the update will soon make it to other countries, like the Philippines, and not just exclusive to China. After all, the company has said that it will release the update in India as well.


The EMUI 9, is currently running on several handsets, including Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Nova 3i, Nova 3. The Honor Play already runs with EMUI 9 and Android 9 Pie as well.

To upgrade your Honor 8X, simply go to Settings > System > System update. As stated earlier, the roll-out date in a different market is still unclear. So if it’s still not available in your device yet, you might have to wait a couple of days or weeks more.
