MediaTek has finally unveiled their new set of mobile chipsets.
The Helio P10 chipset has been pretty successful, making its way in a lot of smartphone OEMs mid-range smartphones. The company has updated it with the Helio P20 and P25.
Helio P25 and P20 are octa-core chipsets that has a faster and more efficient CPU and GPU built on 16nm. It now supports up to 6GB of RAM and LPDDR4x. Other features include built-in support for dual-camera setups with optical zoom like the LG G5 and iPhone 7 Plus for better imaging capabilities.
Meanwhile, the Helio X30 follows up to the previous flagship X20. The Helio X30 features TSMC’s 10nm fabrication tri-cluster, deca-core architecture. There are two 2.8GHz Cortex-A73 cores, four 2.2GHz Cortex-A53 cores, and four 2.0GHz Cortex-A35 cores – for a total of 10 cores.
The GPU, PowerVR 7XTP-MT4, is clocked at 850MHz and supports LPDDR4X, 4k video recording, LTE Cat10, and 8GB of RAM.
We’re excited to see these chipsets make their way to local manufacturers like Cherry Mobile. Christmas is coming, so maybe we’ll get a Flare with one of the new chipsets?
