The Mannheim Regional Court in Germany ruled in favor of Nokia after it filed a lawsuit against OPPO.
If you remember, Nokia filed a lawsuit against OPPO back in 2021 in 9 countries over 4G/5G patent infringement.
According to the report, this is the first ruling concerning the disputed patents about 4G LTE and 5G Standard Essential Patents (SEPs). Nokia has sued the Chinese tech company over 9 SEPs and 5 implementation patents in three regional courts in Germany.
One of the leading 5G SEPs holders, Nokia has spent EUR129 billion (around Php7.3 trillion) in research and development. This is why, now that we rarely see their names in tech products, they just license their tech to other consumer products.

Now, the Mannheim Regional Court has granted Nokia a cease and desist order against OPPO. This means that OPPO products, as well as its sister company OnePlus, will be banned in Germany.
OPPO has appealed the case but it was dismissed by the judge who found that OPPO was an unwilling licensee.
