Realme is flexing another rapid growth. The latest report from Canalys Research shows that the emerging smartphone brand has overtaken Huawei last quarter.

The Canalys’ Top Smartphone Brands in the Philippines for Q4 2019 list shows that Realme had a whopping 709% YoY growth, taking 9% of the total market share in the Philippines.

It’s probably thanks to their strong releases last year, including the Realme 5 Pro and Realme XT — which are still relevant to this day.

Realme has overtaken Huawei, which is now at the fifth spot with its slow 3% YoY growth with 8% of market share. Clearly, the company is still hurting from the US ban and has relied on some of its devices that remained to have Google Mobile Services, like the Nova 5T.

The most disappointing figures are from Samsung. Despite being on the third spot, the company had a -32% YoY decline during the holiday season last year. Hopefully, the release of the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy Note 10 Lite — and the eminnent release of the Galaxy S20 series, will help them recover this quarter.

Still, OPPO and Vivo are on the top list. Thanks to their strong marketing efforts, OPPO took the top spot with 44% YoY growth with a 27% market share. Next to OPPO is Vivo, which is climbing with a 159% YoY growth, managing to eat 25% of the pie.

February is a busy month of new smartphone releases. We’ll see how these numbers change once we get the report for the first quarter of 2020.
