Sony’s first PlayStation Portable, more popularly known as PSP, was a huge hit when it came out in 2005. So much so that the entire series sold over 80 million units during its 10-year run.

It appealed to many people allowing them to play games anytime, anywhere. Now that there’s a resurgence in handheld gaming, it looks like PlayStation is preparing to bring it back.

Gaming YouTuber Moore’s Law Is Dead shared the rumor on his channel with 171,000 subscribers.

It is said that PlayStation is working on a successor to the PSP Vita that came out in 2012.

The source said that the handheld console is currently in early development and is “at least 2 years out” as it’s said to belong in the PlayStation 6 line of products. Hence, it’s no surprise that — as rumors also suggest — it will be able to play PS4 and PS5 games.

Rumor also has it that Sony is working with AMD to create the PSP Vita 2. AMD is behind the processors used in popular modern handhelds like ASUS ROG Ally and the Lenovo Legion Go.
