If you’re constantly experiencing overheating phones during hot days or intense gaming, RedMagic has a solution for you: a magnetic fan that attaches to the back of your phone.
RedMagic, an electronics brand under Nubia Technology, recently announced a new version of the Magnetic Cooler 6 Pro, promising to cool down your iPhone and gaming smartphones down to -16 degrees Celsius. The previous version of the device only reached -12 degrees Celsius.
It’s essential to note that the promised reduced temperature is only achievable at low ambient temperatures and under a light load. However, in actual use, the phone cooler is still supposed to offer a maximum heat dissipation of 30 watts and lower smartphone temperatures by up to 41 degrees Celsius.
The cooling fan uses a 3.4mm Peltier thermoelectric module with a graphene and aluminum heat sink. It’s also built with a silicone coating to protect the smartphone from scratches.
RedMagic smartphone owners already have built-in magnets to attach the Magnetic Cooler 6 Pro, while other Android phones and iPhones can use the provided sliding mounts to attach the cooler.
You can also adjust the fan speed and RGB lighting via a smartphone app. Regarding noise, Nubia claims that the fan never exceeds 35 dB. For context, this decibel level is considered very quiet, comparable to the sound of a whisper or rustling leaves.
The RedMagic Magnetic Cooler 6 Pro can be powered by a USB-C port, and the fan can also wirelessly charge the smartphone.
For its availability, the Magnetic Cooler 6 Pro is going to launch in China first. Its international release is yet to be announced. The rectangular version is currently priced at approximately USD34 (~Php1,900), while the square version is USD37 (~Php2,100).
