Samsung surprised everybody as they officially announced the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 today. The large media player device was first suspected to be unveiled during the upcoming IFA 2012 event in Germany but it did not happen. But the whole details about the Galaxy Player 5.8 is currently undisclosed so we still have a lot to look out for.
The Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 goes beyond the Samsung Galaxy Note‘s screen size by half an inch more. Its huge screen is intended for multimedia playing such as watching movies and so as this device doesn’t have phone capabilities. Pretty interesting, it seems like Samsung is fond of risking things out but I guess that’s the right attitude if a company wants to be successful.
The Galaxy Player 5.8 features a humongous 5.8-inch (as the name suggests) qHD TFT-LCD screen with a 960×540 pixel resolution, a 16GB or 32GB internal storage (expandable via microSD), a VGA front camera, WI-Fi, and bluetooth. It also runs on a TouchWiz optimized Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandich as its out of the box OS. For power, it has a 2500mAh battery.
Honestly, I think that as a portable media player, Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 may not be too good especially for Filipinos. I mean, it is very large and it is very close to the tablet territory considering that you’ll be buying this as a portable device.
The price for the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 is still unknown and if this will be available outside Korea is still uncertain. As always, I’ll update this post as soon as I hear more details.
