Announced way back in June, the Sony Xperia Tipo single and dual-sim variant will be available in the Philippines next month. The Xperia Tipo is set to hit the entry-level android race but it may have some problems getting attention as it is priced relatively higher than its competition. However, given Sony’s great build and durability, it may be enough to cover the price.
Sony Xperia Tipo will have two versions but both will sport the same specifications and features aside from the dual-sim capability. It features a 800MHz single core processor, Adreno 200 GPU, and 512MB of RAM. So a 512MB RAM against the standard 256MB RAM of budget phones is its real selling factor. Also, it has a better 3.2-inch Scratch resistant display with a 320×480 pixel resolution.
Comparing it to the Galaxy Pocket‘s 240×320, you can definitely spot how good this is. However, this resolution can also be found on a cheaper Alcatel Glory 918N which is now priced for only Php4,990. With that, you’ll get a 650MHz and a 256MB with the same screen resolution. More of the Alcatel Glory 918N can be found here in our detailed review.
Anyway, the Sony Xperia Tipo is way ahead of the mentioned devices above. It has a larger storage of 2.5GB and bigger battery capacity of 1500mAh. Plus, it runs on Ice Cream Sandwich!
