Omdia, a British analyst firm, has released its latest data on the smartphone global market for Q2 2021. It shows Realme, Xiaomi, and OPPO as among the top gainers for the quarter.
Xiaomi’s rise in shipment numbers and rank is no surprise. Omdia’s data merely confirms what we have already known all along for the past couple of weeks from another analyst firm, Canalys. There’s Samsung holding its position as the top smartphone maker, followed by Xiaomi taking the second spot over Apple, which is now in third. OPPO and Vivo make fourth and fifth place.

The Omdia data notes remarkable growth from Realme, whose shipments saw a whopping 174.5-percent year-on-year growth. Xiaomi is the second-best YoY performer at 72.9 percent. A surprising shipment growth comes from no. 7 smartphone maker Motorola at 42.8 percent.
The data also shows Huawei and its former brand Honor as the only OEMs experiencing a year-on-year decline among the top ten manufacturers.
