The TECNO Future Lens even just wrapped in China and if unveiled three camera technologies that we shall see on flagship Phantom phones to come.
First, there’s the TECNO W-shaped adjustable aperture with a design inspired by a cuttlefish’s eye to eliminate glare in challenging lighting conditions.
Next, we have the TECNO liquid telephoto/macro periscope lens technology. We’ve seen a similar material before, but only this time it’s been used on a periscope-style lens. For it to work, TECNO is using voltage to adjust the curvature of the lens to dynamically adapt from long to narrow, thus achieving a 5cm macro focusing distance.
This special telephoto-macro lens also fixes the distortion issues that the usual ultra-wide-macro lens combos have. Using a telephoto lens is also more fitting in achieving macro shots, similar to professional cameras.
Finally, TECNO gave us more details about its Universal Tone technology. It utilizes three AI-powered engines to ensure the perfect skin tones. There’s the Multi-Skin Tone Restoration Engine that adjusts and calibrates skin tones with the help of a color spectral matrix.
Meanwhile, Local-Tuning Engine detects people within an image and picks the right tone for a better image. Finally, there’s the Computational Portrait Engine to wrap things up by applying the right aesthetic.
TECNO hasn’t disclosed what devices will sport the new technology, but we should see it on the next Phantom flagship smartphones.
