uberx-upfront-prices

Uber riders will get ‘fixed’ fares starting October 12.

UberPool was first to enjoy the upfront prices when it launched a couple of months ago. Now, the company is bringing it to UberX.

No more surprisingly high bills starting next week. When booking, Uber will calculate the distance, traffic situation, availability of the drivers, and the estimated travel time to come up with an upfront fixed price.

With the launch of upfront prices, there’s no more surge notifications. Uber already considered all factors in coming up with a fixed fare. This is similar to how Grab calculates its fares when booking.

I personally prefer Grab before because it shows me the exact amount that I need to pay rather than an estimate from Uber. Now that they’ve changed that, I might consider using them again.
